17. Modelling the
belt
I've done one
ring for the belt but I need many more. I'm not gonna do them by hand
though, I'll simply copy the one I've already made. I select the ring
from the groups tab - while I'm here I rename it from cylinder01 to Ring.
Then I choose Edit -> Duplicate selection. You will not be able to
see the copy in the windows because it's placed exactly the same as the
original ring. But in the Groups tab you will see a new group called
Duplicate01. I Continue duplicating till I have 12 rings, I figure that
will do. Then I simply select the rings one by one from the groups tab
and move them onto the hips of the body mesh all the way round. Look
closely at the 3d preview from all angles as you place the rings, you will
need to move them in both front and side view to make them sit close to
the hip, but not too embedded.

I move and rotate
each ring to fit the part of the body where it's placed, some rings I have
to rotate around all axes. When I've placed half of them all the mesh
looks like this:

At this point I
decide to deleted the rest of the ring copies and just copy the part of
the belt I just did. I select the duplicates not placed on the body
mesh and delete them one by one (press delete). Then I select the all
the belt rings on the body and choose Edit -> Duplicate Selection and
then Vertex -> Mirror Left <-->Right. I move the mirrored
selection to the right till the 2 front rings overlap. To make it easier
for me I only select the x axis in the move options as I do this. When
done I'm left with this:

The back rings
overlap a bit, but that's ok. I'll go back and delete the first ring I
did, because there is now 2 font rings in the same place and that is
silly.
